How it works
From empty calendar to covered case day.
Same platform, two directions. Most accounts end up using both — start with whichever you need today.
How it works when you need coverage
Create your account
Email and phone both get verified — everyone on Synapses is a confirmed, reachable person. Add your practice details and you're set.
Find your provider
Filter by credential, date and distance — or narrow by the clinical criteria your case actually needs.
Review the profile
Credentials with expiry dates. Ratings from other practices. Completed and cancelled case history. Message them if you want to talk it through first.
Book and confirm
Pick the slot, see your flat fee before you confirm, and book. You'll both get a confirmation code and a reminder 24 hours out.
After the case
Leave a review. They'll leave one too. Your invoice and the full booking record are in your account.
What you never have to do
- Text four people to find out who's free
- Chase a permit, a DEA number, and a COI by email
- Wonder whether a certification is still current
- Pay a percentage of somebody's day rate
Or skip the search and post the case day
Steps 2 and 3 above assume you want to book someone directly. The other route is to post the day and let providers come to you — useful for a stretch of dates, a recurring arrangement, or when you want to compare people.
Post it
Title, dates, rate, location, and how many people you need. Your specialty's job form is attached automatically.
They apply with a structured form
Every applicant answers the same questions, in the same order — so you're comparing like with like instead of reading twenty different CVs.
Filter by the answers, then hire
Narrow the stack to the people who actually qualify, shortlist, message, and hire. Statuses run Submitted → Under review → Shortlisted → Interviewing → Offered → Hired.
How it works when you provide coverage
Create your account and get set up
Verify your email and phone, then follow the setup checklist — profile, credentials, services, calendar. It tells you exactly what's left.
Upload your credentials
Licenses, permits, certifications, insurance — each with its expiry date. We'll remind you before any of them lapse.
List your services and rates
What you offer, and what you charge — by hour, half day, full day, session, weekend, or holiday.
Set your availability and your rules
Working days and hours, travel buffer, minimum notice, daily cap, and whether requests need your approval first.
Get booked
Practices near you find you and book. Or browse posted case days and apply. Payment and invoices run through the platform.
What stays yours
- Your rates — set by you, never negotiated
- Your radius, notice period, and daily cap
- The right to approve before anything books
- Your existing offices and relationships
You can hire, too
Providing coverage doesn't lock you out of the other side. Need a surgical assistant for a case day you've taken on? Post it from the same account — no second login, no separate profile.
Your specialty isn't a side. The categories on Synapses are open to either role, so you can be booked in yours and hire in it.
Setup
You won't have to guess what's next.
Synapses walks you through setup step by step — and tells you exactly what's still missing before you can book or be booked. When your profile is ready, you'll know.
See it with your own schedule.
Fifteen minutes. We'll walk through booking a case day and answer whatever you want to ask.
